A casual eatery in SS2, Petaling Jaya, famous for its char siew. The room is simple and unfussy, and locals and people from further afield come here for the char siew alone.
The best thing was the pairing of char siew and noodles. The tender char siew and the springy Hakka noodles go together so well that I enjoyed every bite to the end. The chai boey was delicious too. It's a stew of mustard greens and roast meats, and its slightly sour, gently spicy flavour was just right after the rich char siew.
It all began in 2009, when Sean and Angie opened the shop. In 2016 they moved to the current spot, still in SS2, and changed the name to TNR, short for Toast and Roast. Besides char siew, there is siew yoke with crackling skin and wonton noodles.
