Sembikiya Sohonten (Nihonbashi)
The fruit parlour of a long-established fruit shop, on the second floor of Nihonbashi Mitsui Tower. It connects underground to Mitsukoshimae Station, so it's easy to reach even on a rainy day.
What stayed with me were the limited-time parfaits that change with the seasons. They're full of whatever fruit is at its best, so there's something new to enjoy each visit. The cream is surprisingly light, and the parfait never feels heavy, right to the last spoonful. Besides parfaits, there's also their classic fruit sandwich.
Sembikiya Sohonten started in Edo in 1834 as a shop selling fruit and vegetables, and is said to be the oldest fruit specialist in Japan.
A perfect stop in Nihonbashi when you want to enjoy seasonal fruit in a relaxed way.
