A contemporary Japanese restaurant on the ground floor of The Troika, near KLCC in Kuala Lumpur.
This time I ordered à la carte, and every plate was well executed and a pleasure to eat. At the heart of the restaurant is warayaki, searing ingredients over the fierce flames of burning rice straw; it is described as Malaysia's first premium warayaki restaurant. The signature is A5 Miyabi wagyu finished over the straw fire, and there is also an omakase course that changes with the seasons.
It opened in 2023, and Sean Thu has been head chef since 2024. In the open kitchen you can watch the ingredients seared in leaping flames from the counter seats. The dining room has a large golden kumiko lantern, and upstairs there is a lounge for cocktails.
A place I'd pick for an anniversary or a celebration, when I want to settle in and take my time over dinner.
